The Latest on Tutti Strings

Wow! The summer is sure flying by! We are already into late July. Summer lessons finish up August 1st for Wednesday students and August 7th for Tuesday students. As most of you know I will be starting my new teaching position in Green Bay in September. Lessons will continue into the school year, but every other week. My lesson days/locations will be as follows: Mondays and Wednesdays at the First Baptist Church; Tuesdays at St. Mary's School in Algoma; and Thursdays at St. Paul's Church in Juddville. I will be sending out official lesson registration forms soon through e-mail and will schedule students as I receive their registrations. Therefore, you may want to register as early as you can to receive the day/time desired. I am looking forward to seeing all of you again and meeting new students. Thank you for continuing lessons through "Tutti Strings"! I hope you are having a wonderful summer!

About Lori Meyer

Mrs. Lori Meyer received a Performance and Music Education Degree from Lawrence University's Conservatory of Music in Appleton, WI. She began her teaching career in Dubuque, Iowa, teaching in the Dubuque Community School District. In 2001, Mrs. Meyer moved to Door County and was the Director of the Peninsula Music Festival Youth String Program. Starting in the fall 2012, she will be teaching orchestra through the Howard-Suamico School District, Green Bay.

Mrs. Meyer has 15 years teaching experience. She is a professional musician who has performed locally for Peninsula Players ("Elephant Man" and "Into the Woods"), Peninsula Singers, for events through the Wellness Center, Door County Public Library, Sturgeon Bay Schools and TAP, and in solo and chamber music recitals throughout the county. Often Mrs. Meyer can be seen playing at the First Baptist Church (the location of her Sturgeon Bay Lessons). She performs with the Allegro String Quartet and a flute, clarinet, cello trio called "Classical Connection". Mrs. Meyer has taught classes at The University of Wisconsin Green Bay and has performed in the Green Bay Symphony, Fox Valley Symphony and the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra. She lives in Sturgeon Bay with her husband Ben and their two children, Aurelia and Nelson.

About “Tutti Strings”:
“Tutti Strings” is the music studio of professional musician and certified music educator Mrs. Lori Meyer. Music Lessons are offered bi-weekly on violin, viola, cello, and string bass to Door County Residents, ages 7-adult. Students who study a stringed instrument through “Tutti Strings” (Tutti is an Italian Word meaning Everyone) will learn to play the violin, viola, cello or string bass at a high level.

Performance Opportunities:
All students are given the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned by playing in recitals.
Bi-Weekly Lessons are offered in Sturgeon Bay.
Lesson Prices:
30-minute lessons $15.00
45-minute lessons $22.50
60-minute lessons $30.00

Paying for lessons:
Payment for monthly lessons is due at the first lesson of each month. Most months will have 2 essons, but you will receive a list of scheduled lessons at the end of every month for the upcoming month.

Practicing/Arrival for Lessons:
Students should plan on practicing the length of their lesson at least 5 days a week. Therefore if you are taking a 30-minute lesson, please practice 30-minutes a day. Please arrive 5-minutes early for lessons so we can start on time and parents should pick up their child immediately following the completion of the lesson unless otherwise arranged.

Cancellation Policies:
A family can receive credit for a missed lesson due to student illness or a family emergency (sports and after school activities are not emergencies), only if I am contacted prior to the lesson being missed. Please call ASAP for emergency cancellations at (920) 421-0753. You can e-mail me at least 24 hours prior to a missed lesson at: tuttistringsstudio@att.net. Poor winter weather is an excused absence, and I will contact you if lessons will need to be cancelled due to my inability to travel.

Lesson times belong to the student scheduled. Lessons are given on a bi-weekly basis. Other missed lessons are unexcused and will not be refunded or credited. Please attend lessons even if your child has not sufficiently practiced. There is always something to learn at lessons!

Please bring the following things to your lesson:
1. Instrument

-Continuing students may be asked to purchase new books throughout the year
-New students need: Sound Innovations Book 1 for chosen instrument
3. Sharpened Pencil
4. Notebook for writing down weekly assignments
