May Lessons

Spring is finally here! Yippee! I am so looking forward to our Spring Recital on Sunday, May 19th. Be sure to put some extra practice time in so you are well-prepared for this special event. Be sure to dress up in your best recital clothes!
After the recital, there will be short break with lessons until the second week in June. In June, I will be starting 7 weeks of weekly private lessons. Information about summer lessons has been sent out through e-mail, but if you have the need for a form, please let me know. Please try to return this form to me by Sunday, May 19th. After I have received all registrations, I will begin contacting you about summer lessons.

The Practice "Diet"

An article published in the American String Teacher Magazine suggests students should think of practicing like a "diet" starting and ending with dessert! For example breaking down a 30-minute practice session (with a 5 minute break) might include:

5 minutes                dessert                warm-up on favorite old song
10 minutes              veggies               practice scales, etudes, or other exercises
5 break                                              e-mail, text or call a friend on the phone
10 minutes              main dish           practice solo music and/or orchestra music
5 minutes                dessert               play fun music you want to play

Spring Recital Date

The Tutti Strings Recital will be held at the First Baptist Church in Sturgeon Bay on Sunday, May 19th at 2:00 p.m. All students who take lessons through Tutti Strings are invited to perform on this recital. For March Lesson Dates, please refer to the schedule that was sent through E-mail. Looking forward to the Spring

Solo and Ensemble

For those students who are 6th grade through 12th grade, who also either sing in your school's choir or play a band instrument, you are eligible to participate in Solo and Ensemble. Solos are listed on an official WSMA Solo and Ensemble List. Students wanting to participate need to play a song from the list. Talk with me if you have not already about choosing a song and getting registered.

A New School Year

Fall News for Tutti Strings: The school year is well underway. Lessons are going very well so far and I can't tell you how much I appreciate your continued involvement in Tutti Strings! My new job in Green Bay is keeping me very busy, with over 50 middle school students! I do so much enjoy coming back to Door County at the end of the day. When I am not in Green Bay, I get to see all my wonderful Door County Students and the lovely changing colors of our beautiful area. I am working on getting the December recital dates set. I will let you know when plans develop. Thanks again and keep practicing at home!
